Maryland: Land of dorky pants?

I love this depiction of the state seal of Maryland, painted on the side of an old coach at the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore; it looks like the man on the left is wearing cycling shorts and the other fellow is showing off his paisley boxers. Strangely prophetic!
