Mason Dixon Line: Crown Stone

The Mason Dixon Line is marked every mile with a small stone and every five miles with a larger "crownstone." The crown stones have the Calvert coat of arms on the Maryland side (above) and the Penn coat of arms on the Pennsylvania side (left). According to the Mason & Dixon Line Preservation Partnership there were 217 original markers left in 1950, but many have been lost or damaged since then.
