County hopes to mediate Stewartstown Railroad problem



(InYork) With 24 days left for the Stewartstown Railroad Company to pay a significant debt or potentially lose its stations and engine house in a sheriff's sale, the York County Commissioners are looking for ways to help.
Commissioner Steve Chronister said the 125-year-old railroad is historically significant, and the county should try to mediate a solution that would allow the railroad to remain. Beyond that, he said, the county is seeing what options it has to preserve the 7.4-mile right-of-way should negotiations fail. Continued
