It's hard to imagine a Bethlehem, PA without Bethlehem Steel, but that's the case. To be honest, I wasn't quite aware that the mills in Bethlehem had closed up shop entirely. I guess I was preoccupied with the mills in Maryland and when they were bought out and kept operating, I thought the same would go for all the big sites. In Baltimore the big steel mills are off in their own enclave, in Bethlehem they are right in the middle of town; which makes the now abandoned site all the more disturbing. Much of the complex has been bulldozed, but the portion in the center of town has been preserved, hopefully to become a museum one day.
