Somewhere between York Road and the NCR trail, around Monkton or White Hall, sits this old building. I'm gonna assume it was a school. Anybody know for sure?
I believe that is an old school in the old village of Sparks, actually. I don't know the story behind it, but it matches in architecture and building materials several other schools in this area of Baltimore County.
I don't know...but out of curiousity I looked it up on the tax records and in fact the site is owned by Baltimore County Schools.
The villages of Sparks, Corbett, White Hall, Monkton and so forth are wonderful views backwards in time. You can imagine these self-contained communities linked by the railroad...a time before we were all issued an Expedition with a full tank of premium. Progress?
Well that settles it: it was a school. Thanx for looking into it. That is a fun area to explore. Wish I'd started taking pictures of it earlier, but I had to wait for digital cameras to be invented. Not Progress, they just suit my temperment.

That is an amazing wreck of a place. Great bones.
I esp. like the photo of the window filled in wih various rocks and textures. Great shot!
Thanks. I liked the filled-in windows too.

Yeah, I can't see it as anything other than a school. It looks like it burned at one point. I wonder if it's sound enough to be saved?
