Sounding alarm on threat to Assateague



(Baltimore Sun) ... Assateague "is experiencing the fastest rate of sea-level rise along the Atlantic coast, and one of the fastest in the nation," the report said. Stronger coastal storms, storm surges and saltwater intrusion all threaten the island ecosystem and access for fishing and other recreation. Water levels at Ocean City, just north of Assateague, are rising at a rate of 1.8 feet per century, "the second-fastest measured so far along the Atlantic." Continued
