Help Save Aberdeen Station

The 1885 Frank Furness designed B&O Station located in Aberdeen, Maryland is threatened with demolition. The Historical Society of Harford County, Inc. is leading the effort to save the station, restore it and preserve it. Long disused by CSX, the station has deteriorated and in June of 2003 was condemned by the city and scheduled to be razed. The Historical Society and concerned citizens successfully rallied to prevent the demolition temporarily. With contributions by private individuals and a grant from Preservation Maryland a feasibility study was conducted which indicated that the building is able to withstand a move (The move is required by the railroad due to the station's close proximity to active rails). Negotiations with the railroad are now underway to obtain the nearby land necessary for the relocation. Read on.
