Season opener

We started this year's photography season with a trip to Bel Air's new visitors center. I was all prepared to be highly critical of the thing, but truth be told, they've done a pretty good job of it, thus far.

The center is located in a room in the National Guard Armory on 37 North Main street. It is chock full of the usual brochures, maps, gewgaws, and even features a small collection of books for sale. We like books for sale. The hostess was friendly & took just enough interest in us.
The armory itself is a large castle-like building named for General Milton Reckord, who was from Harford County. It was built in 1915. Reckord was an interesting fellow; you can read more about him here.
