Ned Hanlon

(Wikipedia) - Edward Hugh "Ned" Hanlon (August 22, 1857 - April 14, 1937) was a 19th century Major League Baseball player and manager. He was born in Montville, Connecticut. Hanlon broke into the National League with the Cleveland Blues in 1880 and played until 1892 with several different teams. While his playing career was, for the most part, unexceptional he began what would be an illustrious career as manager when he took the helm of the Pittsburgh Alleghenys in 1889.Hanlon moved to the Baltimore Orioles in 1892 where, despite some growing pains, he would experience his greatest success.
