Historical marker commemorates birthplace of commercial ice cream production in Seven Valleys



(York Daily Record) ... The sign, nominated by the Red Lion Grange and approved by the PHMC in April, commemorates Jacob Fussell, a Baltimore dairy distributor.
Fussell built the nation's first ice cream production plant on Main Street near the Codorus Creek, using local dairy products and shipping the ice cream via train to the city. Though the plant was only open two years, it started the local tradition of ice cream production. Continued
