The coffee & donuts memorial: an exercise in over-commemoration

So, how did William McKinley get such a fine monument at Antietam National Battlefield? Why he served coffee and snacks to the troops. Oh, and he got elected president, and he got assassinated. But this particular memorial is all about the snacks. My point isn't to disparage President McKinley, but to point out that over-commemoration is just as bad as under-appreciation. I dare anybody to visit this monument and not chuckle.
