Museum Review: Ford's Theater


(NYTimes) - So familiar has the horrific episode become in American mythology that it requires no great powers to imagine it: the sharp “pop” timed to coincide with audience laughter, the smoke rising from the presidential box, the signs of a struggle, and the dashing young man, upstaging a fellow actor’s soliloquy, leaping onto the stage brandishing his Bowie knife. He shouts, “Sic semper tyrannis,” and flees through the back door. Lincoln has been shot. Continued
