Dan McClellan's Perfect Game


(York Dispatch) - York City lays claim to a number of firsts -- the site of the nation's first fair and first capital, for example -- and Dave Gulden wants to add another to the list.
The North York historian and self-published author hopes to place a commemorative marker in the city's Penn Park, where Dan McClellan in 1903 became the first black man in professional baseball to pitch a perfect game.
"There's a lot of York history that a lot of people don't know about," Gulden, 57, said at his home Wednesday. "A lot of people don't even know there was a ballpark out at the southern end of Penn Park." Continued
