Country Churches: Saint Mark's Episcopal

"St. Mark’s Church was originally a “Chapel of Ease” to St Mary Anne’s Church in North East, Maryland. The cornerstone was laid on April 3, 1844 by the Bishop of Maryland on land donated by neighboring Gale Family. The cemetery was originally that family’s private burying ground. The Chapel was consecrated in August of 1845 and The Reverend Richard Whittingham Jr. became its Deacon and Assistant to the Rector at St. Mary Anne’s." - Frank Patnaude
